What is high end audio cable?

The high end audio cable is responsible to improve the sound quality of a high fidelity audio system. In this, as the audio signals pass through the cables on its way from either the source to the amplifier, or from the amplifier to the speakers, the cables can affect the signal. The audio cables between the components are called interconnects and the speaker cables carry the signal between the amplifier and the speakers.
There is a constant debate regarding the impact, which the high end audio cables have on audio systems with audibility of the changes. Some claim that it is difficult or next to impossible to differentiate extremely expensive, exotic speaker cables from ordinary lamp cords or budget 12AWG copper speaker cables. Another controversial zone of audio cabling is the mains power cables. They claim to improve the sound or picture with a short length of expensive oxygen-free copper or silver cable, which is connected from the wall socket to the equipment.
In the digital cable genre, the high end audio cables are being sold with claims of distortion-free signal transfer. Some experts have argued that since the bit rates and total distance traveled are considerably lower than other data transfer technologies like gigabit ethernet, any cable, which is nearly matched to the correct impedance requirement, would be sufficient. There are others, who claim that jitter created by imperfect impedance matching is very detrimental to the audio signal and the most relevant disadvantage of digital audio cable.
